description

A practical front garden with a bespoke Ipe hardwood bin store and tall yew hedge screen for privacy. The partition is a horizontal batten fencing with climbing evergreen jasmine. The stepping stones interspersed with groundcover planting lead to the bin store creating an interesting space to view from the front window. The hidden manhole cover is wrapped with the same paving material, beige sawn sandstone, with large grey gravel in between and planted with evergreen spurge (Pachysandra terminalis) and wild ginger (Asarum europeum). The rest of the planting is box balls with perennials: Geraniums, Libertias and Salvias.

“The main feature of this garden is something that we usually want to hide: the bins. By creating a nice storage cupboard, we gave purpose for an interesting path and planting around.”
