description

A south-facing house has the best aspect for a Mediterranean front garden as the plants will need constant sunlight to thrive. The symmetrical layout of this garden is instantly softened by placing the large mature olive trees underplanted with medicinal lavenders en masse. The beds are framed with low box hedging and further decorated with tall Alliums in the spring. The large terracotta pots and ornamental urns are filled with box balls and American aloe (Agave americana).

“There are three Italian columnar cypresses (Cupressus sempervirens ‘Stricta’) at the end of the path serving as focal points. Yet another typical plant from the Mediterranean area to give a structural feature to a garden.”
