Cottage garden planning and planting

Located in Queen’s Park

Creating a cottage garden scheme is all about planning as knowing the correct flowering time is essential for the colour combination and to make sure continuous interest through all the seasons.

Plant heights are important to consider so taller plants do not cover the shorter ones especially when they are in bloom. Creating a mature plant height document can ensure the correct levels of the border.

After preparing the soil for planting with mixing in some compost, we lay out the pots based on our careful planting plan. We use natural fertilizers when planting to ensure good root establishment.

Next spring our border looks healthy and well-established and happy in their position. The bulb planting session also payed off: tulips display their colour as the herbaceous plants get ready for their display.
